How long do my book postings stay posted?
Up to a year from when they are posted. After that, we have to either assume you are gone, or the book will never sell. You will be notified if your book is about to expire.
What do I do if I do not have an ISBN for my book?
In the add-book screen, you can click "I do not have an ISBN" and manually enter the relevant information. Try not to have any typos. Keep in mind that ISBN numbers are the primary idenitfier for the system, so you might be shooting yourself in the foot by not using one.
My book's ISBN only has 10 digits. Is that fine?
Yes. The system accepts both ISBN10 and ISBN13, however, the 10 digit versions are converted and stored as the 13 digit version, so don't be suprised if it changes on you.
Do I need to add the dashes/hyphens in the ISBN numbers?
Nope. You can, but the system will weed those out, so it doesn't really matter either way.
What is this "available on" date field?
This is intended for those leaving for the summer, or graduating and moving away permanently. It allows a seller to post a book well in advance of when he or she is ready to part with the book. You can arrange a transaction with a seller ahead of time, as you might not otherwise be able to find a seller within a couple days.
The form to add a book has a lot of places to put information. Do I need to fill all that out?
It is not required, however, the more information you fill out about your book, the more likely someone is going to find it.
What happens if when I enter an ISBN into my "Required Reading" list?
The required reading list is basically a "Wish List". If someone else posts a book with an ISBN that matches a book in your list, the system will notify you. That way, you can continue with life without having to repeatedly search the system to see whether the book you wanted is available yet.
Why would you gift someone credits?
We recognize that not everyone has a credit or debit card on hand to get credits with.
The gifting tool allows for a third part, such as one's parents, to give an account credits, where the student may not be able to.
I only know what courses I'm going to be taking next semester, and nothing about the books. Can I search by course?
Unfortunately, no. The course information may be listed under a book's extended information, but as of yet, we have no reliable way of knowing what books are for what courses. It's on our todo list.
Do I need to have an account, or otherwise be logged in to find and inquire about books?
You can search without being logged in, however to call dibs on a book you do need to sign up for an account. Do it. There is no cost, and it WILL save you money.
I found a bug, or I think I may have. What should I do?
You can hop on over to the
Contact page and let us know. We do appreciate feedback/bug reports. If you decide to do this, please include any and all information you can about the circumstances. "Some thing did not work, this one time" is difficult to diagnose.
I'm having problems. What do I do?
I entered my ISBN into the add-book or required reading list, and it doesn't find anything. Why?
A couple reasons exist that would affect why your ISBN didn't resolve to anything. The main reason is that packs or kits (such as a bundle of books) aren't stored in the database. The individual books might be, however. Secondly, are you sure you entered the number right?
I entered my ISBN, and it came back with a totally different book. What do I do?
It sounds like you will have to manually enter the book credentials, or see if you can verify the ISBN. Either you were given the wrong ISBN, or our database is wrong. You can
contact us with the relevant information, and we'll dig a bit deeper, but may not be able to do much about it.
